PHILIPSBURG — The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has put together a Reggae lineup that it says will “groove and move you in all the right ways” for Carnival 2018. The foundation on Friday announced the lineup for the One Love Reggae Concert in collaboration with CC1 St. Maarten and Presidente Beer. This will be the third consecutive year that the foundation has taken it upon itself to host the popular Reggae concert for Carnival.

The Lineup will feature love Reggae crooners Sanchez, Etana and Christopher Martin, who will be complimented by Dancehall stars Aidonia and Ishawna. “We wanted to give lovers of the genre beautiful Reggae music to groove to and hot Dancehall artists to jam to. Sanchez, Etana and Christopher Martin will bring the love vibe for One Love while Aidomia and Ishawna will turn the heat up with Dancehall. We are very excited about this concert,” SCDF President Alston Lourens said.

Tickets for the One Love Reggae Concert will go on sale next week and will be for US $30 in advance and $40 the week before the show on April 20. Lourens said CC1 will also be doing some giveaways and raffles of tickets. He thanked the company for coming on board with the SCDF again to make One Love a reality.

He became active in early 2004, and has released albums on the record labels, VP Records and Jag One Productions. Aidonia has also released in the mixtape “Bolt Action”, in collaboration with Federation Sound, Equiknoxx Music/Gerusalem Music and Business Class. The mixtape utilizes classic hip-hop instrumentals with Aidonia’s lyrical melodies overlaying and features artistes Chino, Lil Joe and fellow JOP label-mate, Deablo.

IshawnaIshawna

Ishawna is a rising Dancehall artist that is not afraid to speak her mind through her music. She re-appropriated dancehall from Ed Sheeran with her excellent new single “Equal Rights,” which remixes “Shape Of You.” But the controversy sparked by the track’s feminist message offers a crucial insight into the dancehall community and its relationship with gender. “Equal Rights” is explicitly and unapologetically about sex. The song’s overarching message is “You give and you shall receive” when it comes to time in the bedroom.
