Youth Extravaganza aborted after “Sexy Silveria” remarks

extravaganza kids - MGPGREAT BAY– The police had the last say during the latter stages of the 2017 Youth Extravaganza, Black & White event organized by Laugh Out Loud Productions. Police officers came onto the stage after host Dutty Sham had uttered several times the words “Sexy Silveria” directed at the minister of education

Laugh Out Loud organizer Andrew Dick, a reporter for the Daily Herald, said that the event was planned since last year and they wanted to do something different that involved about twenty performers.

“It was made clear to all performers about vulgarity in their songs,” Dick added. Everything was going according to script, the huge gathering was enjoying the entertainment rivalry between the French entertainers and the Dutch side entertainers.

But six hours after it all started, it came to an abrupt end. “One of our hosts made an unfortunate statement  toward our Minister of Culture, this of course did not sit well with the police and the SCDF,” Dick said and took the opportunity to apologize.

Dick however lauded the efforts of all the performers and stated that Laugh Out Loud will continue to provide the platform that will allow the young and aspiring entertainers to show case their talents.

However, a comment that appeared on social media which appeared to be from Minister Jacobs differed from what Dick said.  The plug was not pulled because of the disrespect to the minister but because of the disrespect to the youth for whom the show was supposed to be catered.  “Ask the promoter why it continued after the warning!” the text read.

The end result was, three out of the 38 artists that were scheduled to perform were unable to show what they had to offer after waiting months just for that evening where their objective was to take their acts to another level.

In addition, to what was said by Dutty Sham hosts and to what Minister Jacobs pointed in her brief remarks on social media, it was alleged that some booth holders were selling alcoholic beverages to minors.
