Dutch Quarter sewerage project progressing
~ Young employees praise supervisor for training ~
DUTCH QUARTER — The Minister responsible for Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure Miklos Giterson has announced that the Dutch Quarter sewerage project is progressing well. The project which is funded by the European Union Funds is expected to be completed by August this year.
This project is expected to include beautification of the Dutch Quarter main road and the connection of all sewerage lines and street lights. The Minister has indicated that there has been some challenges with the private land owners but the Ministry of Public works are looking into these matters to have these issues resolved.
He mentioned that the contractor is doing his best to ensure that the inconveniences to the residents and businesses are kept to the minimum as the project progresses. He expressed his gratitude to the residents for their patience and understanding.
He noted that in the end it will always be worthwhile since it is the better interest of the community and the residents. Meanwhile, the project has employed several of the youths in the area while training them in certain skills and to be productive in their community.
When asked how they felt working with the contractor they commended their supervisor for having the patience to teach them the skill that they thought they would have never had. “We are taking pride in our community by doing this project and the skills we are learning will come in handy when we start our own construction company,” they concluded.
