MARIGOT – The storm that hit the island on Sunday had a serious impact on the waterfront in Marigot. The government closed down the road through Galis Bay, where the turbulent water had thrown rocks on the road; a barge lost its anchor and ended up on a small beach. (See photo below).
The port in Marigot was invaded by seaweed. The waterfront road past the cemetery was also closed off because of the debris and the seaweed on the road.
On Monday, the sea was still wild enough to throw spectacular waves over the boulders that protect the shore.
