MARIGOT — At present, Gendarmes have the intersection of Rue de la Republique and Boulevard de France closed off and the surrounding premises secured as they conduct investigations into an apparent stabbing. A driver of a car stopped at the intersection and stepped out of the car with a knife in his back. A diner having breakfast at L’Express immediately called an ambulance for the driver and he was driven away to the hospital. Police from the Gendarmerie came and immediately secured the area.

It is possible that the driver was trying to make his way to the hospital on his own when he stopped at the intersection and stepped out of the car. The condition of the driver is yet unknown. StMaartenNews.com will bring your more news as we get updates from the authorities.

UPDATE #1
Reports reaching our news desk indicate that Gendarmes can be seen pulling into Agrement, most likely looking for the culprit in this stabbing case as they conduct their investigation.

UPDATE #2
It is believed that an altercation took place in Agrement and the driver attempted to drive to Marigot to get to the hospital on his own accord. However, he most likely was overwhelmed by his wound or wounds and pulled over at curbside in front of L’Express cafe.
