Extreme measure

The Dutch intervention in Statia is, as even State Secretary Raymond Knops admitted, an extreme measure. It is also an event that may get people in St. Maarten thinking about their mid-term future. And no, I’m not saying that the situation in Statia is similar to the one in St. Maarten, but there are of course plenty of warning signs. Just think about the number of times the government has fallen in Philipsburg since the island became an autonomous country within the kingdom since 10-10-10.
