The dark forces behind resistance against the Caribbean Reform Entity

PHILIPSBURG – Dutch money is always welcome in St. Maarten as long as the funds arrive without conditions. That is never the case and history shows that a National Alliance-led government will go to any length to resist. It happened when the Kingdom attached conditions to the provision of reconstruction funds after Hurricane Irma in 2017 and it is happening again with conditions for continued liquidity support. In both cases, the government and its supporters in parliament screamed blue murder about the Dutch infringement on its autonomy. Only this time around dark forces are pulling the strings in the background.
