Recently, Member of Parliament Doran who was on a work-related visit on Curacao in connection with the commemoration of Curacao’s Flag Day, seized the opportunity, upon the invitation of his colleague Member of Parliament of Curacao, Mr. Yaël Plet, to also visit the office of the Parliament of Curacao.

During this courtesy visit, the Members of Parliament had a very constructive exchange in regards to various important topics, with continued cooperation between the 2 Dutch Kingdom partners, Curacao and Sint Maarten as the main focus.

Both parties expressed the will to work towards strengthening this relationship even further, because although they saw many similarities, they also saw many areas where each party can learn a thing or two from the other.

Members of Parliament Doran and Plet discovered during the very fruitful exchange that besides the heavy task of being charged with the heavy task of representing their respective countries on the floor of Parliament, they also shared various similar backgrounds, like both being IT experts, and both being the youngest Parliamentarians in their respective countries among others.

Member of Parliament Doran stated that during his working visit on Curacao, he also had the distinct honor to greet His Majesty King Willem Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Maxima, whom he briefly thanked for the interest shown for Sint Maarten after hurricane Irma.

The Member of Parliament was also greeted by the Prime Minister Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath and the Minister of Education Ms. Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé who both expressed to him their gratitude for accepting their invitation to join them.

Member of Parliament Doran, who formed part of the delegation representing Sint Maarten, said that he was extremely grateful for the learning experience.

He consequently expressed his profound appreciation to the government and parliament of Curacao, for inviting and hosting himself and Member of Parliament Brison, and stated that he hopes to be a part of awarding them the same warm reception one day soon on Sint Maarten.
