Pinel Island

Pinel Island may not be on the Dutch side of the island but the location is still a unique party of our tourism product.

Now a developer has announced plans to use this idyllic spot for the development of an ecolodge – twenty huts and a restaurant we have been made to understand.

Is this progress? Or is this just another developer ready to make a buck, destroying a piece of natural habitat in the process?

No matter how ecological responsible the design is, construction on such a small and endearing islet will put pressure on its eco system that has had already had enough to endure during the past couple of years.

We’re curious to see how the French-side population will react to this idea.
