Jessurun observed World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2018
PHILIPSBURG/CALI -- Friday, June 15th, 2018, was International Day of Awareness Against Elderly Abuse. Raymond Jessurun, ambassador to international organizations on behalf of the Regional Coordination of Civil Society Organizations of Latin America and the Caribbean on Aging and Old Age, told StMaartenNews.com in an invited comment that "All governments of the world as well as civil society is expected to reflect on this day upon the progress made to stop elderly abuse." However, Jessurun, who is also a boardmember of the St. Maarten Seniors and Pensioners Association, lamented the fact that the Ministry of VSA did not reflect on this World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2018.
