NORTH PORT, FLORIDA – John Ludwick, a close friend of Joran van der Sloot was stabbed to death in the Floridian town of North Port when he attempted to kidnap his former girlfriend. In the documentary The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway Ludwick confessed that he had helped Van der Sloot to burn the remains of the Alabama teenager who disappeared on May 30, 2005 in Aruba.

News Channel 8 reports that Ludwick was waiting for his ex-girlfriend on Wednesday morning just before 7 a.m. when she pulled up to her house.

Police spokesman Josh Taylor told the TV-station that Ludwick demanded her car keys. “What he had plans for after that is yet to be determined but certainly a very scary situation.”

The woman, whose name has not been released, snatched a knife from her 32-year old attacker and stabbed him multiple times in his stomach. Ludwick was bleeding profusely and he ran away; he was found a few blocks away and later died in a nearby hospital.

Neighborhood resident Levko Klos said that she was shocked. “It is not something that we would’ve expected in this area. The fact that she had to protect herself – I have no problem. If the gentleman did what he was alleged to have done, well then he suffered the consequences of his actions.”

In the documentary The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway Ludwick said that Van der Sloot paid him $1,500 to help him dig up and burn Holloway’s remains. “We doused it with gasoline and threw it in the fire,” he said on camera.

Natalee Holloway was on vacation in Aruba when she disappeared on May 30, 2005. She was last seen in the company of Joran van der Sloot who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for the murder of 21-year old student Stephany Flores.
