First official group of WorldCoaches of Sint Maarten

Phillipsburg — The Sint Maarten Football Federation, the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB), via their WorldCoaches program, and UNICEF, set up a WorldCoaches program here in Sint Maarten which commenced in February 2018.

After 100 days of the trainings, the Sint Maarten Football Federation, the KNVB and UNICEF are proud to announce that on the 31st of May, 2018, our first group of WorldCoaches received their certificates and are qualified to coach our youth with a proper set of skills and mindset. These coaches received their training from world class instructors Mr Elvis Albertus and Mr Piet de Jong.

For them, coaching is beyond football and with the help of UNICEF, the focus was not only on football but also on the psycho-social aspect of coaching and mentoring kids. This is in particular necessary and important after the community, and also our youth, of Sint Maarten suffered the devastating effects of hurricane Irma.
