Modern Drugs and the Influence of Music

say no to drugsPHILIPSBURG — Are you concerned about your child’s exposure to drugs in school, at home or the community? Is your child being influenced by sources beyond your control. Then this workshop is for you!

The Student Support Services Division (SSSD) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport is organizing an interactive and informative Workshop entitled “Modern Drugs and the Influence of Music.” The general public, especially parents of primary and secondary school going children, are invited to attend.

Parents, school personnel and other interested persons are encouraged to come out to this workshop which will be held on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at the University of St. Martin from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

The objective of the workshop is to help all attendees understand the evolution of drugs to attract youth, how the music industry and popular songs glamorize and encourage its use and what they can do about it. Tips and strategies will be given that attendees can utilize for their personal and individual family situation.

The Student Support Services Division (SSSD) provides services to students referred by the schools. These services consists of psychological services, counseling services, social work services, educational diagnostic services. SSSD also provides career services, and parent education sessions.
