GREAT BAY — Sint Maarten (DCOMM) — On Wednesday, May 30th the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau (STB) in its continued efforts in bringing about greater awareness for the country’s Tourism Industry to the in-school population, provided an island tour to group 8 students of the St. Joseph Primary School in connection with the closure of the academic period 2017-2018.
A total of 26 students between the ages of 11 and 14 together with their teacher participated in the activity.
Lisa Noel for the STB was the tour guide, who provided insightful information about St. Maarten’s tourism industry.
The tour was very interactive and included several stops at some of the country’s beaches where Noel took the opportunity to provide information about the importance of keeping the beaches clean.
On the way several historical monuments were pointed out including the border monuments. A stop was also made in Marigot where the students visited the market place. Noel pointed out the importance of how the island should be promoted as one destination for visitors to visit and enjoy.
STB will continue working with other elementary and secondary schools with the aim of enhancing their knowledge about the national tourism industry. This activity is part of the ongoing efforts to create more tourism awareness within the community of St. Maarten.
STB falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT).
