Members of Parliament participate in Masterclass
PHILIPSBURG — In a press release issued Sunday, November 5th, 2017, the Parliament of Sint Maarten announced that on Friday, November 3, several Members of Parliament participated in a Masterclass on “The art of legislative drafting”.
This Masterclass focused on the principles of legislation, legislative stakeholders and the legislative process in its entirety.
Members of Parliament also gained more insight on how to prepare a “white paper” as preparation to the drafting of a national ordinance.
The Masterclass was provided by Mr. Luciano Milliard who is the Vice-Rector for Governance and Policy Affairs at the University of Aruba. Mr. Milliard has many years of experience in teaching Constitutional Law at the University of Aruba as well.
Mr. Milliard also provided a course “Understanding the Role & Operations of Parliament of St. Maarten” to the staff of the secretariat of Parliament from October 30 till November 1, 2017.
The goal of the Masterclass as well as the course was to equip all Members of Parliament and staff with the necessary tools in order for them to execute their role as a Parliamentarian or staff member even better.
