Students injured by car driven by drunk driver

KPSM Police Force News Update

CUL-DE-SAC — The Traffic Department and Police Patrol were dispatched to the L.B. Scott Road early Wednesday morning around 7 am for a traffic accident where two minors were struck by a car.

According to the information gathered, the two students were hit by the driver of a black Elantra with the number plate M-5454 while crossing the L.B Scott road near the Star Mart gas station. One student, age 13, suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

The other student, a 16 year old, was transported by ambulance to the St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment due to the lacerations he suffered after the vehicle rode over his feet.

The driver of the Elantra with the initials A.J.F. was later arrested and brought over to the police station in Philipsburg for driving while being intoxicated. The Traffic Department is presently investigating this accident.

Two men arrested for gun possession

The KPSM Detective Department conducted an early morning search in the Dutch Quarter area on Wednesday, October 23rd. The house search was in connection with an ongoing investigation into illegal firearms. During the search a gun was found in one of the rooms of the home. The gun was confiscated and two male suspects were arrested. They were both brought over to the police station in Philipsburg for further questioning. This investigation is still ongoing.
