Investigation against VDC-Chief Römer

WILLEMSTAD – The Prosecutor’s Office received a report of a possible threat with a firearm by the Director of the Curaçao Intelligence Service (VDC) Michael Römer.

Given the seriousness of the allegation and the position of the person concerned, the Attorney General asked the National Detective Agency on October 11 to proceed with a factual investigation.

The purpose of this investigation is to find out what actually happened and to determine if there is a suspicion of a criminal offense. The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that there is no question at this time of a criminal investigation. No one is considered a suspect at this time.

Earlier reports in various media in Curacao indicated that there is already a criminal investigation being carried out by the Central Criminal Investigation Unit, but this is incorrect.
