The struggle is real
‘The struggle is real’ was a much heard expression after the passing of hurricane Irma when people experienced the lack of many basic necessities such as water, electricity, phone service and internet.
But for some people the struggle is hard, much harder. We are talking about those who have struggles dealing with the reality of the aftermath of hurricane Irma. Some have lost their homes, their loved ones, their jobs and their overall sense of safety and security.
Thankfully, there is help for those having problems coping. The Association of Psychologists and Allied Professionals of Sint Maarten is extending a helping hand to everyone who wants to make use of their services in the area of psychological recovery.
We hardly ever hear any talk about the psychological effects of natural disasters, but we can assure you, the consequences are real and for some it is a heck of a struggle.
