Students for Study Financing have until end of January to apply

PHILIPSBURG—There has been an increase of students applying for study financing this year. According the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Wycliffe Smith although some 267 students have applied only 109 have completed the applications with all the supporting documents that are required.

Although it was not reported the disciplines that the students have chosen the Netherlands were chosen by some 67 students as the places for their higher education. The United States and Canada fell into second and third place while St. Maarten and the United Kingdom were chosen by some other students.

Other places were the ABC islands, The French Republic, Dominican Republic, USVI, Jamaica and Panama.

The team at the Study Financing were commended for the work that they are doing and the Department Head Antonio Aventurin who was recently injured in an accident was also mentioned for his “invaluable contributions” to the department and the efforts made for the St.Maarten students, said Smith.

However, since the all the required documents for study financing have not been collected as yet, the Minister of Education has extended the date to submit the documents to January 31, 2019. All persons interested in study financing must have their applications ready online along with their supporting documents by the deadline.
