The 2018 Carnival season officially opened

FESTIVAL VILLAGE, PHILIPSBURG — The 2018 Carnival season was opened officially with a twist last evening when the SCDF allowed the trucks that provided music for the thousands of revellers to drive across the tarmac after the traditional ‘Key’ ceremony at the gate.

That musical procession was followed by brief remarks from SCDF officials, Michael Granger and Alston Lourens;  CEO of the Tel EM Group Kendal Dupersoy; Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, Jorien Wuite; Minister of Justice Cornelius De Weever and FCDSM President Luciana Raspail.
