Attorney claims innocence in bribery-trial

PHILIPSBURG – Attorney Brenda Brooks got so emotional at the end of her trial on Wednesday that she broke down while she was using her option to say the last words at the hearing. Fellow-attorney Sjamira Roseburg took over and finished reading the written statement that contained attacks on public prosecutors and a firm statement about her innocence: “I did not intend to commit a crime, nor did I commit a crime.”
