PHILIPSBURG — On Thursday August 9th at approximately 12:30 a.m. the Emergency Dispatch was alerted by the security staff of the Coliseum Casino on Front Street that two suspicious men dressed in dark clothing was planning to rob the casino. PORT ST. MAARTEN – The resurfacing of 4000 square meters at Port St. Maarten’s cargo container terminal is currently underway for an investment of approximately US$400,000. POND ISLAND — Once again, the original dump site at the landfill on Pond Island is on fire. The Fire Department is hard at work on containing the fire at the dump on Pond Island which erupted during the late evening hours of Tuesday, August 7th, 2018. PHILIPSBURG — On Tuesday, August 7th, a second Grant Agreement of the Sint Maarten Recovery and Resilience Trust Fund was signed by Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin and the World Bank in the amount of $22.5 million US dollars.
