From our correspondent
Caribbean News – October 29 2026 — Anguilla has secured the top position on World Population Review’s 2026 ranking of the Caribbean’s six safest destinations, earning recognition for its low crime levels and reputation for peaceful surroundings and welcoming hospitality. The British Overseas Territory ranked ahead of Barbados, St. Barthélemy, Martinique, the Cayman Islands and Aruba on the list.
Anguilla Tourist Board Director of Tourism Jameel Rochester said the recognition reflected the sense of comfort and welcome visitors experience on the island, alongside its beaches, culinary offerings and friendly residents. Board Chairman Sean Richard also welcomed the distinction, emphasizing the importance of local communities to Anguilla’s identity. He said the island remained committed to developing tourism in ways that benefit residents, protect its environment and maintain a high-quality visitor experience.
The island has also received international recognition from Travel Off Path, which placed Anguilla third among the world’s 10 safest islands. It earned 93 out of 100 on the publication’s Traveler Safety Index, which draws on official security data and traveller ratings. The two rankings add to Anguilla’s profile as a destination for visitors seeking a combination of safety, natural attractions and hospitality.
