Sint Maarten Pension Fund Outlines 2027 Financial Priorities in Talks with Finance Minister
PHILIPSBURG – October 29 2026 — The Algemeen Pensioenfonds Sint Maarten (APS) has engaged the Government of Sint Maarten in discussions on its financial direction for 2027, following a meeting between the Fund’s management and board and the Minister of Finance on October 22, 2026. The discussions focused on the proposed budget for the coming year and other issues relevant to the Fund’s administration and the interests of its stakeholders.
APS representatives used the meeting to explain the principal objectives guiding the preparation of the 2027 spending plan, including the factors considered in developing its financial forecasts. The engagement also allowed the minister to seek further information about the proposed allocations and the assumptions on which the projections were based.
According to APS management, the budget preparation process reflects the Fund’s emphasis on careful financial oversight and maintaining its long-term sustainability. Management also highlighted the importance of maintaining open channels of communication with government officials, noting that cooperation is necessary when addressing decisions that could affect the Fund and those who depend on it.
Beyond the budget, both sides examined the laws and regulations governing membership in APS, including potential ways to encourage more employers to participate. The parties considered the conditions that would apply and the possible consequences for the pension fund and prospective participating employers. APS said it intended to maintain engagement with the government and other stakeholders as it works to strengthen its operations, financial planning and long-term development.
