The Electoral Council sent out a rather alarming press release, stating that 95 percent of the 125 candidates that took part in the September 26 elections have not yet registered the donations they received.

One would think that the rules of the game are sufficiently known to all those aspiring politicians and that the parties they represented have properly informed them.

True, there are still two weeks to go before the deadline, but when just 7 out of 125 have submitted their data, it is tempting to think that most candidates just don’t give a hoot.

Interestingly, without registering the donations, candidates that have been elected to parliament will not be able to take the oath of office. That will inspire at least eight candidates to provide their information post haste.
