Deadline for application registration new political parties: Wednesday, October 9, 2019
PHILIPSBURG — The Electoral Council hereby wishes to inform prospective political parties desirous of participating in the upcoming elections on 9 January 2020 that:
In view of the fact that postulation date has been set by National Decree (LB-19/0675) on 21 November 2019, new political parties would have to submit a written application to register with the Electoral Council no later than Wednesday, 9 October 2019 at 6 p.m.
Together with the application for registration of the political party, the following documents should be submitted:
- Notarial deed containing the Articles of Association of the party;
- Excerpt from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
- Statement containing the appointment of the party’s authorized representative and authorized deputy representative to the Electoral Council;
- Application for registration of the reference which is to be placed above the list of candidates.
Equally, any party that lost its reference and wishes to re-apply for its reference to be placed above its list, can do so before the deadline on Wednesday, 9 October 2019 at 6 p.m. This is also the case with a party wishing to apply for a change of its reference above its list.
Failure to submit an application for party registration by the deadline, will result in the party not being able to contest the upcoming elections.
In order to accommodate the registration of the new political parties and registration of references of parties, the office hours of the Electoral Council are as follow:
Monday: October 7, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday: October 8, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday : October 9, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
