Last week the Board of Police Chiefs, consisting of the police chiefs of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the BES islands, was on a working visit in the Netherlands. The visit of the police chiefs also included a visit to the Royal Marechaussee at Schiphol, the National Operational Cooperation Office (DLOS), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), the Police Academy, the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI), the Caribbean info-cel and the High Impact Crimes team (HIC) of the Rotterdam Unit and the Ministries of Justice and Safety and Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations. The mutual cooperation was central to all these visits.

On Wednesday morning the police chiefs were guests at the police chief of the Dutch police Erik Akerboom, after which they joined the National Briefing at the head office in The Hague. Here, police chief Carl John of Sint Maarten showed a film to his colleagues which showed the havoc caused by Hurricane Irma on 6 September 2017. The Chief of Police of Sint Maarten, among other things, expressed his gratitude for the support from the Netherlands and in particular thanked the Dutch colleagues who contributed to the reconstruction.
