Spectacular views from the top of Sentry Hill

GREAT BAY– When completed, the Rainforest Adventures Park located on the premises of the Emilio Wilson Estate will have more than thrill seeking adventurers bargain for. In addition, to the two lift stations at elevations of 790 and 138 meters respectively, there will also be a humming bird garden.

That is just one aspect of the project that will certainly attract nature lovers. According to Scott Swietanski, the managing director of the project, he has seen it done in Jamaica and he intends to have one here also.

This new development was made public last Saturday when two journalists from the print media were invited to tour the upper level of the project. The trip up the 750 meter vertical slope aboard the ‘Argo’ the world’s most versatile all-terrain Vehicle, ATV, was far from comfortable.

But under the circumstances, it was the easiest and fastest way to get up the hill. While there, Swietanski outlined the current state of the project which is on schedule. Men were busy working at various points along the steep incline applying the finishing touches to the foundations of the towers that will be installed.

Because of the terrain, the Argo could only go up to a certain point and the walk along a spiral path with sections of concrete steps was certainly not a walk in the park. In fact it was breathtaking but rewarding.

Catching your breath after reaching the base of the apex of the hill was a must. Then the ‘wow’ factor was in effect after taking in the 360 degree view. It was the only way to acknowledge the enormity of the tasks that is being undertaken.

In response to making a comparison between Pic Paradis, the highest mountain on the entire island and Sentry Hill, Swietanski said, “Both are extraordinary, but Sentry Hill is a jaw dropper. This one is more centrally located, the view is better because you get to see the a lot more from here.”

Apart from the bird watchers, the zip riders and hikers, it will certainly be an ideal location for local plane spotters who will have a full view of arriving and departing aircrafts. In a nutshell it will be another spectacular addition to the local tourism market.
