Renewed plea for United Congress
MARIGOT – On Sunday morning Governor Eugene Holiday and his wife Marie-Louise, President of Parliament Sarah Wescot Williams and Prime Minister William Marlin and his wife Gabrielle formed the government’s delegation that attended the inauguration of Daniel Gibbs as the next President of the Collectivité of St. Martin. Gibbs first launched this idea almost six years ago on September 25, 2011 in a broadcast on Radio Soualiga in Eddie Williams’ program For the Record. ”People do not believe in memoranda of understanding anymore,” he said on that occasion; on the Dutch side his initiative fell on deaf ears; it did not trigger a single reaction from any politician.
Delegation congratulates President Gibbs
“In my opinion our cooperation deserves more than a hug and handshake in French Quarter on the 11th of November. Let us move beyond the Protocol, let us give this cooperation a reality,” Gibbs said in his inaugural address. He talked about the goal of fellow citizens who expressed the desire of a shared destiny and a common future. President Daniel Gibbs also reiterated his plan for the establishment of the St. Martin United Congress with French & Dutch representatives.

Prime Minister William Marlin looks forward to working closely with the new administration in Marigot and to further strengthen the relationship between both governments and our people.
