The bride wore green

GREAT BAY– The name Green Fingers on St. Maarten is synonymous with plants and landscaping, but after Friday’s civil wedding ceremony, the first to take place there since it’s over 30 years of existence, wedding planners will now have multiple choices to make when suggesting a venue for a wedding on St. Maarten.

Steven and Yolanda Codrington, the newly married couple who opted to tie the knot in a lush green setting shaded from the bright afternoon sunlight set a new trend and Joan Berkel had the distinct pleasure of marrying the couple in accordance with the laws of St Maarten.

It was also a sign of things to come for Tom Meerman, General Manager at the Green Fingers Garden Center. Meerman started to speak about the new development with an old phrase when he said, ‘One hand cannot wash itself.’

“It takes two hands and Yolanda chooses this facility and we were pleasantly surprised so we had to make the best of it; why refuse? This was our chance to show off what we can do with limited means under a green setting,” he said.

According to Meerman, it was the very first time an event of this nature was staged at the company and what took place there could very well set the precedence for weddings in the future. Nothing was spared for that special occasion.

The groom dressed at his Dutch Quarter residence and the bride dressed at the Tamarind Hotel, just opposite Green Fingers. The bridesmaids wore aprons which clearly identified their relations to the couple and the grooms men all wore black. It was an ideal setting straight out of the movies.
