CTO and ICF to Convene Caribbean Tourism Leaders on European Market Opportunities
From our correspondent
Roseau, Dominica – October 28, 2026 — The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and international tourism consultancy ICF are set to bring together senior regional tourism officials and industry executives in London on November 5 to discuss the Caribbean’s competitiveness in the United Kingdom and wider European travel markets. The invitation-only CTO-ICF Tourism Visionaries Circle will take place during World Travel Market London under the theme, “What Does Europe Want Next? Reimagining the Caribbean for the Conscious Traveler.” The event will be hosted aboard the Sunborn London Yacht Hotel, located at Royal Victoria Dock near the ExCeL London exhibition centre.
The discussions will examine how Caribbean destinations can respond to evolving visitor preferences, particularly the growing demand for authentic, responsible and community-focused travel experiences. Tourism ministers, directors, chief executives and other industry representatives are expected to explore ways to use the region’s natural attractions, cultural heritage and distinctive offerings to strengthen its appeal to European visitors. CTO Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer Dona Regis-Prosper said the collaboration was intended to generate practical ideas that would improve regional competitiveness, benefit local communities and support sustainable tourism development.
The programme will begin with a discussion on the Caribbean’s future presence in European markets, followed by a moderated exchange designed to challenge existing approaches and identify responses to changing industry demands. An “Honest Truths” segment will allow participants to share their views anonymously on the sector’s opportunities and difficulties. ICF Head of Tourism Nikolaos Gkolfinopoulos emphasised that sustainability should be treated as a competitive strength rather than merely an obligation, noting that the Caribbean could build stronger market recognition by transforming its natural and cultural resources into distinctive visitor experiences. Regis-Prosper will deliver opening remarks, with contributions expected from CTO Deputy Director of Sustainable Tourism Narendra Ramgulam and ICF representatives.
The executive roundtable is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon and networking session from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Following the meeting, the CTO and ICF plan to prepare a report outlining the principal findings, shared priorities, unresolved issues and recommendations for shaping future tourism policies across the region. The initiative reflects both organisations’ interest in encouraging innovation and leadership in Caribbean tourism while balancing destination growth with environmental protection, cultural preservation and the well-being of local communities.
