This as a result of an ongoing beef, apparently over a scooter. Also visiting…
St. Peters/Retreat Estate — St. Peters is all shook up at the tragic death of a 2 year old boy, who is said to be turning 3 tomorrow. One young fellow barely managed to jump over a wall, badly scrapping his body and injuring his leg. In the heat of the attack, a little boy who was playing on his toy truck on the side of…

Part 1 I went down to NAGICO Insurances offices on the Cannegieter Street. Finding parking close by is always a challenge. I figured I would use The Secret to attract a parking spot right in front of the NAGICO building. I imagined that the old security guy would be holding a spot for me as I pulled up in my red Ford Escape jeep. Indeed. That is exactly what happened. He was in the process of pulling back up the lock after a client had backed out and drove away when I arrived and turned on my indicator light to…
By Hilbert Haar The press conference at the end of the Inter-Parliamentary Kingdom Consultation (Ipko) produced one interesting question from a journalist in Curacao. What is the importance of the Ipko? I have asked myself that same question many times during the years I worked for the Today newspaper. It is a question that also applies to Parlatino. What I heard about the importance of Ipko at Friday’s press conference is: the Ipko is the only platform where delegates of all four parliaments in the kingdom meet. Okay, I get that, but the question remains: what is the return…
PHILIPSBURG – Delegates to the Inter-Parliamentary Kingdom Consultation (Ipko) that ended on Friday found common ground for a list of agreements that was signed by all delegations. The document contains quite some procedural agreements and also a long paragraph about the effect the political situation in Venezuela has in particular on Aruba and Curacao and to a lesser extent on St. Maarten. For St. Maarten Venezuela is an “emerging problem” due to the influx of refugees via the French side of the island, the document states. The delegations agree that the “worrisome influx of refugees” is a source of concern…

MARIGOT—Examining the reconstruction of the French side of the island compared to the Dutch Side it will seem that hurricanes of 2017 apparently happened on the French side, said Senator Guillaume Arnell. In making the comparison between the two countries he used as an example the Simpson Bay and Philipsburg areas where extensive work was done to revamp the economy while it seems as though the French side is a on a go-slow. He explained that it seems as though on the Dutch side of the island that they give their priority to the economy while on the French side…
