CSMA’s last day focus was on the youth

CBA students - the youth of today, leaders of tomorrow

PHILIPSBURG — Friday, December 1st, was the last day of the 1st Annual St. Maarten Customer Service Week organized by the Customer Service Mobile Academy (CSMA), an affiliate of Training Professionals international Firm (TPI). The week’s organizers hailed the training event as an overwhelming success.

Participants were trained on the following accredited courses titled ‘Supervisory Accredited Course; Customer Service Is Not A Department, It’s A Philosophy; and Overcoming Obstacles’.

CSMA has always expressed great interest in the future leaders which is why they awarded scholarships to four students of the Charlotte Brookson Academy (CBA) on St. Maarten. This paved way for them to attend the training courses that have benefitted them immensely. Speaking to StMaartennews.com, Marie Fidel-Balthazar, a form 5 student of the CBA, expressed great satisfaction at the opportunity and thanked the organizers for availing her such opportunity. According to her, she thinks “this course would help the students if introduced into the educational system of St. Maarten, because they would understand better how to deal with people that are outside their local circle.”

To explain the importance of the training after her experience at the CSMA, Zoria Arrindell, also a form 5 pupil of the CBA, said “ I think that the educational system of St. Maarten is lagging in this regard. According to her “if there are professional tourism courses offered at my school, I will enroll because the trainings regarding hospitality and customer care has helped me with managing my emotions and has made basic interactions better”.  She also added that “because tourism is our main source of income, youths that want to have careers on the Island, should know about customer care way ahead of time”.

On his part, Brandon Francis, also a form 5 student of the CBA said “I enjoyed the group discussion during the training, it was fun. I believe that this training if introduced into our educational system would help manage the relationship between teachers and the students.”

Julianne Roberts another a pupil of the CBA said that she feels very great and well informed after the training. “I hope to have the opportunity to participate next time. I also learned a lot about taking responsibility. I enjoyed every bit of the training.” she said.

Customer Care does not only relate to giving services, it inculcates every aspect of our everyday life, because without customer care, which has a lot to do with individual behavior, growth can be hindered which is why CSMA would like to partner with the schools on St. Maarten to prepare trainings that are tailored to suite the need of the students.

Dr. Gittens called on the general public to participate in next year’s program which would take place from the 3rd to the 14th of September 2018. She also extended her gratitude to country St. Maarten for their support during the training week.
