Harbour View – On Friday, December 15, 2017, the Governor of Sint Maarten, His Excellency drs. E.B. Holiday, met with and received an update from formateur Mr. Franklin Meyers on the progress regarding the pending points of the formation. Considering that the background screening of candidate ministers is still ongoing the formateur therefore requested a further extension of his commission to form a new government. Governor Holiday as a result and having assessed the situation extended the commission for Mr. Meyers to present him the final report of the formation process by December 22, 2017.

There will be no court sessions in the Court in first Instance and in the appeals court during this period, with the exCeption of summary proceedings and some planned sessions. Philipsburg — Police continue, on a daily basis, to conduct traffic controls at different locations on the island. On Wednesday December 13th during these controls a total of 80 vehicles were stopped for control. Of these controls a total of 71 vehicles were stopped for control and to have illegal tint removed from the driver and front passenger side of their vehicle. All drivers were again warned of this traffic violation. Four fines were given to drivers for other traffic violations and one scooter was towed.
