Sint Maarten Police Warn Students Against Halloween Egg-Throwing
From our correspondent
Philipsburg, St. Maarten – October 29 2026 — The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) has cautioned students, parents and guardians against egg-throwing activities ahead of the upcoming Halloween weekend, warning that targeting fellow students, vehicles, homes and other private property could have serious consequences. The police said the practice, which sometimes occurs in the days before Halloween, can result in injuries, property damage and dangerous situations for motorists and other road users.
According to KPSM, some students bring eggs to school or purchase them from nearby shops for use in these activities. The police stressed that such conduct is punishable by law and will not be treated lightly. Officers have indicated that appropriate action will be taken against individuals found participating in the behaviour.
Parents and guardians are being urged to discuss the risks and consequences of egg-throwing with their children, pay attention to items they take to school and discourage any involvement in the activity. KPSM emphasized that young people must understand the importance of acting responsibly and avoiding conduct that could endanger others or damage property.
The police are also calling on students to show respect for their peers, members of the wider community and other people’s belongings. Schools and shop owners have been encouraged to remain vigilant and help prevent the practice. KPSM’s warning forms part of efforts to promote a safe and orderly Halloween period throughout Sint Maarten.
