PHILIPSBURG — The Division of Examination and Inspectorate of Education have made the results of the Foundation Based Exit examinations available to the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Jorien Wuite. The sessions that took place May 21st to 24th saw 509 students take the exams. PHILIPSBURG — Following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, a Recovery Trust Fund for Sint Maarten in the amount of €470 million was established by the Netherlands. PHILIPSBURG — Prime Minister the Honorable Leona Romeo Marlin received a courtesy visit at her cabinet in the Government Administration Building from the Commander of the Netherlands Forces in the Caribbean Peter Jan de Vin. Discussions during the meeting centered around preparations for the Hurricane Season and building on the working relationship between the Military and the Government of Sint Maarten. PHILIPSBURG — On Thursday June 6th at approximately 12.15 a.m. police patrols, detectives and paramedics were sent to Jump-Up casino located on the Emmaplein to investigate an attempted armed robbery where shots had been fired and persons being injured. On Monday, May 29th,1848, the day after slavery was abolished in the French territories, 26 slaves residing on the Diamond Estate Plantation took the brave decision and made a dash for freedom across the border to the French Side.
