GREAT BAY — Sint Maarten (DCOMM) — The Collective Preventive Services (CPS), a department within the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour (Ministry VSA), seeks to share information about scabies and to take preventative measures to avoid getting scabies.  Practicing good hygiene is also a good preventative measure. CPS recommends that parents, care givers and adults in general closely observe their children as well as themselves for signs of rash, pimples or mosquito bites, and to consult their general practitioner. The Ministry of VROMI hosted a waste forum last week Thursday, which was moderated by Mr. Jan Beaujon. The forum, which carried the theme, “No time to waste,” attracted a full house of attendees at the government administrative building. PHILIPSBURG — The Division of Examination and Inspectorate of Education have made the results of the Foundation Based Exit examinations available to the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Jorien Wuite. The sessions that took place May 21st to 24th saw 509 students take the exams. Of the 509, 14 students were of the ACE School, 64 of the Hillside Christian Schools, 147 students of the Division of Public Education, 94 students of the Foundation Methodist Agogic Center Schools, 34 students from the Seventh Day Adventist School and 156 students from the Foundation Catholic Education Schools.  The overall nationwide…

PHILIPSBURG — Following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, a Recovery Trust Fund for Sint Maarten in the amount of €470 million was established by the Netherlands. PHILIPSBURG — Prime Minister the Honorable Leona Romeo Marlin received a courtesy visit at her cabinet in the Government Administration Building from the Commander of the Netherlands Forces in the Caribbean Peter Jan de Vin. PHILIPSBURG — On Thursday June 6th at approximately 12.15 a.m. police patrols, detectives and paramedics were sent to Jump-Up casino located on the Emmaplein to investigate an attempted armed robbery where shots had been fired and persons being injured. PHILIPSBURG — May 29, 2018 marks the anniversary of a historic event that took place 170 years ago.
