Philipsburg — On Friday afternoon, October 13, 2017 the Ombudsman, Dr. Nilda Arduin, met with approximately 40 vendors, many of whom filed a complaint against the decision of the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication (TEATT), Mrs. Melissa Arrindell- Doncher, to demolish the kiosks in Philipsburg. HAARLEM – A group of fifteen homeless citizens from St. Maarten has hired attorney Leandro Thomas. He has to make sure that they are able to register in a Dutch municipality, Natasja Gibbs reports on Caribisch Netwerk. The group of fifteen became homeless due to Hurricane Irma and they came on an evacuation flight to the Netherlands. There are five children in this group. THE HAGUE – Members of the Dutch parliament are astonished about threats made by Island Council member Clyde van Putten towards Dutch military personnel on Statia, John Samson reports on Caribisch Netwerk. Philipsburg — As of Wednesday, October 11th, the Police Force of St. Maarten (KPSM) with the assistance of the Police force of the Netherlands, Aruba, Curacao, the Royal Marechaussee, the VKC and VKS intensified the general controls at different locations on the island. In accordance with the law, day care centers must be able to operate in a safe and healthy manner. The insurance company’s chief executive officer, Ralph Palm, confirmed that ENNIA strives to resolve all claims as soon as possible. ENNIA is also willing to advance a portion of the loss payment to eligible clients in order to speed up recovery from the catastrophe.
