Roseau, Dominica – November 02 2026 – The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has opened its Caribbean Tourism Month campaign, with newly elected Chairman Charles “Max” Fernandez urging the region to strengthen partnerships, expand local participation and ensure tourism delivers meaningful benefits to communities. The campaign is being held under the theme “From Legacy to Leadership: The Caribbean’s Tourism Story Unfolds,” celebrating the region’s tourism heritage while highlighting its shared aspirations for the future.
Fernandez, Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment, launched the campaign’s video series with a message recognising the people whose work and resilience have shaped the Caribbean tourism industry. He said the region had developed into one of the world’s distinctive destinations through generations of cultural pride and determination, while stressing that its future growth must be guided by sustainability, innovation and greater opportunities for local communities.
The chairman also called for closer regional cooperation, saying that the Caribbean’s tourism ambitions could not be achieved by individual destinations acting alone. Throughout November, tourism ministers and commissioners from participating destinations will share video messages across CTO’s social media platforms, highlighting their respective tourism histories, achievements and development priorities. The campaign will also feature “One Caribbean, Infinite Experiences,” a photography initiative showcasing images submitted by member destinations for the Caribbean Bliss front-cover photography competition.
The CTO says the combined campaign will celebrate the people, places and experiences that shape Caribbean tourism while drawing attention to the need to protect cultural heritage, support communities and deepen regional collaboration. Fernandez encouraged residents, visitors, tourism partners and members of the Caribbean diaspora to follow and share the campaign’s videos and destination features throughout the month, calling on the region to honour its past while pursuing tourism leadership with purpose.
