Philipsburg — Following their meetings on 14 June, 2018 with various stakeholders on the island regarding the ongoing hurricane recovery and the Trust Fund, Ombudsmen Dr. Arduin and Mr. van Zutphen, have issued a joint letter to Prime Ministers Leona Romeo-Marlin of Sint Maarten and Mark Rutte of the Netherlands urging both heads of government to speed up the recovery process. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship at the well-attended Change of Board celebration event that the The Rotary Club of Sint Maarten – Mid Isle held recently at the Rendezvous Lounge, Porto Cupecoy. This event was a ‘World’s Greatest Meal to End Polio’ a collection was taken and all the proceeds will go towards the effort to ‘Eradicate Polio’. SIMPSON BAY — St. Maarten — The Managing Board of the Princess Juliana International Airport – SXM on Thursday July 5, 2018, announced the completion of Phase One of the roof repair project at the Terminal Building. The project originally began in March 2018. The completion of this phase is another step towards the reconstruction of the entire Terminal Building, the Managing Board said. According to the Projects, Planning and Systems Department of SXM Airport (PPS), the 250 meters’ long roof, covering almost 16,000 square meters, was severely damaged in the aftermath of the September 2017 hurricanes.
