Today, the Dutch State is attempting to offer its colonies of the former Netherlands Antilles an apology for what they have labelled the “slavery past.” Rather than offering an apology that many consider to be insincere, Pro Soualiga contends that the Dutch State would be better suited by offering statutory action as a means to rectify the “slavery past.” Firstly, a Dutch apology is null and void as long as the colonial governor that was in place during the “slavery past”, still remains legally intact.
